2025 Week 6 To-Do
She actually looks kind of happy in this picture.
What you see here is a sad, sleeping dog.
She was sad because Kathy was away.
She was sleeping because, well, that’s what she does a lot, but also because I don’t think she slept much Sunday night into Monday.
I didn’t either, because, as I mentioned, I don’t think she did.
And what you can not hear in this picture is the gurgling of her stomach because she ate something she shouldn't have because she was anxious about Kathy being gone.
So we’ll have more on all that in a minute.
First, here’s what I have going on this week.
This Week’s To-Do
Pitchers and catchers report this week, so you’ll find me Watching A Lot of Spring Training Video. I don’t love how long spring training drags on, but those first few days of videos where players are getting to camp and you just watch guys playing catch and hear the pop of the ball in the glove - it’s what I really need this week.
Friday’s a big day:
First I have to Celebrate My Four Valentines. (Five if you count the pukey dog [spoiler alert].) I usually get them a little something for Valentine’s Day, and I don’t have to worry about giving anything away because I don’t think any of them read this!
Then, by the end of the day Friday I have to Call To See If I’ll Have Jury Duty next week. The way this month has been unfolding so far feels like I’m going to be called in. I’ll be writing about this either way, I expect, so I’ll save the rest of the info for then.
This Week’s May-Do
Opening weekend Captain America Movie? Hard to say. There’s some flexibility because we could even do Sunday night - which I guess now that I think about it would have it fall in next week’s To-Do List - because there’s no school next week. But that also means a weekday afternoon is in play. Either way, sooner rather than later - it’s hard to avoid spoilers.
You can click here for more details on what I had on last week’s list - here’s the recap:
Last Week’s To-Do
I do not stay up late. I told you last week that’s the biggest adjustment I have to make when Kathy’s not here - I need to do the late dance pick-up, which is usually her domain. (I take the early wake up/getting lunches ready end of things.) So I needed to set the tone for the week with a good sleep…and that did not happen. We got some measurable snow Sunday night into Monday morning, and the plows made sure the schools would be open…which meant 2:30 in the morning I woke to the sounds of snow plows. Then I had to brush off the cars and shovel snow first thing Monday morning, but at least the dog also got sick! Long story short: Monday and Tuesday were nuts. Wednesday and Thursday things evened out a bit - Thursday was a snow day and things were canceled and I was able to catch up on the work I couldn’t do the first couple of days…but I did have to shovel again on Thursday.
Last Week’s May-Do
I did run a couple of times this week outside, in between storms. (It might be a while before that happens again, the way the forecast is looking.) My foot hurt a lot after the first one (during the first one, actually), so I worked on strength and stretching and taking care of it and it felt great after the second one. So that was encouraging.
I did submit my first piece of 2025. Maybe I’ll tell you about it, I don’t know. I feel like I can submit it somewhere if this isn’t an acceptance, and I don’t like talking about these pieces before they are published (hopefully).
I have indeed started re-watching ‘The Falcon and the Winter Soldier’, so hopefully I’ll make my way through it before Friday. I forgot that I really enjoyed the quiet moments of Sam’s life in New Orleans in this show.
Guess who didn’t get a Super Mega prize.
